Hi folks! Do you remember my last post on yoga? Here is another one heading on the same direction.
Knitting. Wool. Alpagas, sheep, linen, cotton. Fabrics. Patterns.
Those are words that highly elevate my soul.
I came across knitting and crocheting some years ago; four if I remember correctly.
Well, this is not entirely true, as my Godmother has always been knitting and I have always been fascinated.
From the first day I started to knit, I felt the similarities between knitting and yoga.
Your mind is into something that is linear, without a close finality. Knitting a jumper can take you 50 hours at least. You can go on and on with a pattern for days, concentrating yet letting your mind travel and wander where it wants without any tension. You've settled a flow all around you. And mostly, the constant rhythm of the needles sets your breathing, just as yoga does.
Each pattern or ball of yarn you use is like a different Asana. You get to know it better while you practice.
Knitting really is a yoga of the mind.
Plus, you get to wear some comfy unique pieces of clothing that you can be proud of, which is a nice extra :)
So, head to your needles girls and boys!! The more we are the funnier it gets.
I'll be back with some patterns and recommandation for wools in the near future.
In the mean time, let's enjoy a good cappuccino in my warm and cosy handmade knitted vest.
Cheerio!
